The Pod is a sea kayaking club for young people from 9 to 17 years of age who live in and near Watchet.
Who can join and how much does it cost?
Any young person can take part in kayaking in Watchet harbour to see if they like it. It costs 50p per session, the same as a youth club, and your parent needs to sign a permission form. There is no annual membership fee. The Pod is affiliated to the BCU as a Junior Club and several of the adults are qualified BCU Coaches and RYA Safety Boat Coxswains, and there are other competent adults who support activities on and off the water. When and where do you go out?
We can use the outer harbour slipway three hours each side of High Water, when the weather is suitable, so we have different times and days depending on the tide. These dates are published every month and notices are displayed at Watchet Youth Club and Danesfield School and West Somerset College.
